Guide

Why convert HEIC to JPG?

HEIC is a modern, space-efficient format — but plenty of software still can't open it: older Windows photo viewers, legacy editors, government and school upload portals, and many forums reject HEIC files. Converting to JPG makes the image open virtually everywhere.

It's the go-to fix when iPhone photos (HEIC) land on a Windows PC, or when a downloaded HEIC image needs to go into an editing program.

What happens to quality and size?

The image inside your HEIC is decoded and re-saved as JPG at a high quality setting — on screen, differences are practically invisible.

Because HEIC compresses more efficiently than JPG, the converted file usually grows somewhat. That's the price of compatibility — keep the original for storage if size matters.
